About Coblentz

    The Coblentz Society is a non-profit organization founded in 1954. Its purpose is to foster the understanding and application of vibrational spectroscopy. The Coblentz Society is a technical affiliate of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy (SAS).

Member Information

    The Coblentz Society now has an online portal for keeping your membership data current. The new portal allows members to pay their dues, and register for events online. The Society also has an online Event Calendar to help members keep track of Coblentz related events.


    The Coblentz Society participates in several conferences where vibrational spectroscopy is featured.  In October the Society will attend SciX where it will present the Craver award as well as Student awards and the William G. Fateley award.  In March the Society will attend PittCon where it will present the Williams-Wright award.   

Spectral Collections

    The Coblentz Infrared Database is now available in a digital format that can be used for spectral searching. Click Coblentz Society Infrared Spectral Collection for ACD/Labs for more details. 
    The Coblentz Society provides reference material in the form of publications of Spectral Databases.and Special Collections (in hardbound books)

2020 Election of Members of the Board of Managers and Call for Volunteers

    The 2020 vote for the Coblentz Society's Board of Managers will be held during the fall of 2020. If you are interested in standing in the election or volunteering your time to support the Society please contact the Society's President.

The Coblentz Society Newsletter

    The Coblentz Society publishes a newsletter twice per year. Archives of all previous Coblentz Newsletters dating back to 1955 are available online.

    We welcome member submissions to the Coblentz newsletter. Submissions can be made online, through the online Newsletter Item submission form or by contacting a Coblentz newsletter editor.
